Jacinta is from a single parent family and lives with her mum, aunt and 4 siblings in a single room tin sheet house. Her father passed away last year.

She has been involved in the program since it started in her school (Kangemi primary) 18 months ago.

Jacinta doesn’t actually play cricket. Instead, she’s been taught the art of scoring – in fact, she now scores for Kenyan club matches.

She loves the way the program gives her the opportunity to travel to new schools and cricket grounds, scoring and making new friends from other schools in the program.

She says the coaches have helped her understand the importance of persistence, and how to create strong friendships. She now knows how to relate to different people, and also in her school work.

Jacinta wants to be a journalist, but is determined to remain involved in cricket and scoring.
