From Community Grounds to National Colours: Stories of Determination, Character, and Hope
Before they were selected.
Before the trophies.
Before the recognition.
For many of the young people in the EACDT programme, success has meant far more than runs scored or matches won.
Through exposure opportunities created by EACDT, some of our beneficiaries have travelled to different countries, competed at higher levels, and helped their clubs win leagues and cups. Along the way, they have earned recognition in the world of cricket, recognition that has changed lives in ways far beyond the boundary line.
For some, cricket has become a source of income, enabling them to pay their own school fees, support their siblings’ education, and help their families at home. Beyond the financial impact, these experiences have transformed who they are. Their confidence has grown. Their discipline has strengthened. Their character has matured.
By interacting with people from different cultures and backgrounds, they have learned to communicate, collaborate, and belong in spaces they once thought were out of reach. Cricket opened the door but character carried them through it.
From Our Programme to National Pathways
Over the years, EACDT has proudly nurtured young people who have gone on to achieve remarkable milestones in their cricketing journeys. Through sheer determination, discipline, and the character values embedded in our programme, several of our boys have been selected to play for Kenya Kongonis Cricket Club, while others have joined competitive cricket clubs across the country, Kenya U15, Kenya U19, and even the Kenya National Team Men’s side.
For our girls, the impact has been just as powerful. Some of our female beneficiaries have earned selection into the Kenya Under-19 Women’s Team and even the Kenya Women’s team, a testament not only to their talent, but also to their resilience, confidence, and belief in themselves.
These achievements are not isolated moments. They are part of a growing legacy.
A Proven Track Record of Producing Leaders, On and Off the Field
EACDT has consistently produced players who progress through development pathways, with some going on to represent Kenya at national level, including appearances in men’s national teams and age-group tournaments such as the Under-19s and Under-15s.
But what makes these stories truly special is not just where our beneficiaries end up, it’s who they become along the way.
Our Character Education programme equips young people with values that shape their lives far beyond sport: discipline, integrity, teamwork, resilience, and self-belief. These values help them navigate opportunities responsibly, handle success with humility, and use their platforms to uplift others.
Many of our alumni now give back, mentoring younger players, supporting their families, and serving as role models within their communities.
Why This Matters, And Why Your Support Is Crucial
Every success story you see today began with access: access to safe spaces, coaching, mentorship, exposure, and belief.
None of this happens by chance.
It happens because people choose to invest in young lives, not just as athletes, but as future leaders, providers, and positive contributors to society.
As you look through these images and stories, know that each represents what is possible when opportunity meets character. And with your continued support, many more young people can follow this same path, from community grounds to national colours, from uncertainty to purpose.
Together, we are not just changing games.
We are changing lives.
