The Children
The EACDT exists to improve the lives of the children of East Africa. Here, you will find the emotional and uplifting stories of some of the kids we have the great fortune to work with. Learn about their stories and how their teachers are seeing them develop.
The Schools
EACDT currently works with 13 schools in and around Nairobi, Kenya, in partnership with the Kenyan Ministry of Education. These include Kawangware Primary School, Kabiro Primary School, Dagoretti Muslim Primary School, Ruthimitu Primary School, Ruthimitu Mixed Senior School, Kabiria Primary School, Kangemi Primary School, Old Kihumbuini Primary School, New Kihumbuini Primary School, Juja Road Primary School, St Brigid’s Primary School, Dr Aggrey Primary School and Muslim Primary School.
Since its inception in 2014, EACDT has implemented its Character Through Cricket programme in 23 schools, positively impacting thousands of children and young people.
Many of our partner schools are located in some of Nairobi’s most disadvantaged communities, where overcrowded classrooms, limited learning resources and the frequent theft of school property present significant challenges. Despite these obstacles, the teachers and pupils demonstrate remarkable resilience, optimism and determination. Their commitment to learning and personal growth continues to inspire us and reinforces our belief that every child can thrive when given the right opportunities and support.
The Teachers
The teachers we work with are hugely appreciative and supportive of the work of the EACDT. Every day they are challenged as teachers and mentors in ways we can never imagine.
