Dr Michael Kipsugut Boit is a distinguished Kenyan professor, sports scientist and former world-class middle-distance athlete. An Olympic bronze medallist in the 800m at Munich 1972 and a Commonwealth champion, he enjoyed a 15-year international athletics career before establishing himself as a leading academic and sports administrator. He is a Professor of Exercise and Sports Science at Kenyatta University and Director of the World Athletics Academy, and has served as Kenya’s Commissioner of Sports and Chairman of the Kenya National Sports Council. With a distinguished career spanning sport, education, research and public service, Professor Boit brings exceptional experience and insight to his role as a patron of EACDT.

David Ivon Gower OBE is a celebrated former England international cricketer, captain and broadcaster, widely regarded as one of the most elegant left-handed batsmen of his generation. He played 117 Test matches for England, scoring 8,231 runs, and captained England to a memorable 3–1 Ashes series victory over Australia in 1985. Following his distinguished playing career, David became a leading cricket commentator and presenter with the BBC and Sky Sports. Appointed an OBE in 1992 and inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame, he has maintained a strong connection with cricket through broadcasting, writing and international cricket events. David brings a wealth of experience and passion for the game to his role as a patron of EACDT.
