Our beneficiaries proudly participated in the LMS Rhino Cup and World Cup held in June 2024. We are thrilled to report that some of the boys who took part in previous LMS tournaments are now playing for other cricket clubs.
The tournament provided a unique experience for our kids, offering them the opportunity to travel outside Nairobi and meet new people from different backgrounds. For many, it was their first time leaving their localities. Beyond sports, the trip included a thrilling experience of seeing wildlife up close as they travelled through Ol Pejeta Conservancy, where they spent two nights in the heart of the reserve.
The tournament has also significantly enhanced our coaches’ ability to umpire high-profile matches, with live scoring adding to their experience. We look forward to seeing many more youngsters from our programme excel in cricket, both locally and internationally, showcasing their talent and dedication.
One of our standout beneficiaries, George Kuria, volunteered to play for the Old Fools Cricket Team during the LMS Rhino Cup. George’s impressive performance and team spirit earned him an invitation to visit Australia later this year, with all expenses covered by the Old Fools. George’s journey from the slums to international travel exemplifies the life-changing opportunities our programme provides.
