Responsibility for EACDT’s governance rests with our five Trustees, who meet at least quarterly. Together, they bring a wealth of professional and business experience at board and equivalent levels, providing leadership, oversight and guidance to help keep EACDT focused on its charitable purpose and ensure that its resources are used responsibly and effectively.

Our Trustees

Chris Newson

Chris Newson is a Chartered Accountant, former banker and former Managing Director of Standard Bank Africa. As Chairman, he leads the Board of Trustees and supports the effective governance and strategic direction of EACDT.

Emily Burness

Emily Burness is a successful business executive and Director of Transformation for Cochlear UK. She brings extensive business and organisational experience to the EACDT Board.

David Hardisty

David Hardisty is a banker and former Managing Director of Retail and Business Banking at ABSA Bank in Kenya, formerly Barclays Bank. He brings substantial experience in leadership and financial management.

Julian Ince

Julian Ince is a Chartered Accountant and a retired former partner in PwC in Africa, having worked in the London and Sao Paulo offices of Price Waterhouse before moving to Kenya, where he still lives, in 1981. He has been a trustee of the EACDT since it was founded and has also served as a trustee of Galvmed, a large charity supported by the UK Government and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Julian provides oversight of the EACDT’s finances and provides support for the operations in Nairobi.

He has been a member of the MCC since 1971 and a member of the Kenya Kongonis Cricket Club since 1982.

Roger Johnson

Married to Marian for 54 years with two grown up children. Keen fly fisher.

United Nations Official for 25 years, including 14 years in based in Geneva and 11 years in Nairobi. Subsequently 15 years at EDS/Hewlett Packard as a Senior Programme Manager, developing and implementing large scale IT infrastructure.

Cricketing experiences include helping to set up the Swiss Cricket Association and serving as its inaugural secretary; Membership of Kenya Kongonis CC for over 35 years, the MCC for 46 years and a trustee of EACDT since 2023.
